在现代英语里ammunition和munition不同，有下面两点该注意：

Mumps is contagious和Mumps are contagious都可以说。

a multiplicity of causes, a multiplicity of duties, a multiplicity of interests等表达方式里的a multiplicity of都作many解

ass和donkey是“驴”，跟mule（骡）不同。

mucilage（胶水）在英国很少用，但在美国很常用，在英国通常用gum。

much不可修饰可数名词，如不可说much people或much books，该把much改作many。

Mrs是mistress的简写形式，但不该写Mistress。

Mr是mister的简写形式，但不该写Mister。

mown grass和new-mown hay里的mown不可改作mowed。

motion picture（电影）现在比moving picture普通得多。

a movie指“一个电影”，the movies或the movie是“一次电影映演”或统指电影或电影业。
