北京市文物局日前公示《北京博物馆之城建设发展规划（2023-2035）》（征求意见稿），听取公众意见，公示期至3月18日。征求意见稿提出，到2035年，北京实现每10万人拥有2座博物馆，各类博物馆总数量超过460座。2020年4月,《北京市推进全国文化中心建设中长期规划（2019年-2035年）》发布，正式提出要打造布局合理、展陈丰富、特色鲜明的“博物馆之城”。
Beijing on Friday unveiled a draft development plan for museum construction from 2023 to 2035. By 2035, there will be two museums for every 100,000 people in Beijing, with the total number of museums exceeding 460 in the capital,according to the draft released by the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau.The public are encouraged to give their opinions on the draft before March 18.

Beijing is poised to become a "city of museums", according to a 2019-35 plan for the construction of a national cultural center. The plan, released in April 2020, aims to build Beijing into a city of museums with distinctive features, scores of exhibits and an intelligent layout of cultural resources.
