1.recording从“录音”转作“被录的音”解，再转作“唱片或录制品”解，所以recording=record。例如：Record(ing)s of the text are now available.但recording和record虽然指同一东西，但recording着重在“音”，record着重在“唱片或录制品”，如The author has most usefully provided recordings of the lessons里用recordings，但He keeps all his old gramophone records in his basement里用records。
