1.“对于…提出抗议”或“反对…”在英国用protest against, 在美国往往只用protest，如They have protested against the proposal是英美通用的，They have protested the proposal是美国英语。
2.He protested that his mother thought otherwise是“他声明他的母亲有不同的想法”，不是“他反对他的母亲有不同的想法”。
3.protest parade（抗议游行），protest demonstration（抗议示威），protest strike（抗议罢工）等表达方式里用名词protest，不用protesting。
