obligate

obligate通常用在被动语态，后面接不定式。例如：As guardian of the child, Tom was obligated to provide for her education.（作为那孩子的保护人，汤姆有责任提供她教育的机会。）和A witness in court is obligated to tell the truth.（证人在法庭上有说出真相的义务。）
