hell（地狱）前面没有the。但what（或where, why等）the hell里的hell前面必须有the：

• What the hell are you doing? （你究竟在做什么？）
• Where the hell are you going? （你究竟到哪里去？）
• Why the hell are you going? （你究竟为什么去？）

the hell加重前面的词的语气，是口语。
