1.fall作“秋”解是美国英语，相当于英国英语的autumn。参见autumn

2.falls（每逢秋天）用作副词是美国用法。例如：Falls he lives with his parents.

3.fall是不及物动词，但它的过去分词fallen有时用作形容词，作“落下的，陷落的”解，如fallen leaves（落叶）和fallen city（沦陷了的城市）。

4.fall to作“开始”解，后面接名词或动名词，如In a little while they fell to argument和Let us fall to reading。第二句里的reading不可改作read。这习语主要是文学用语，不很普通。

5.He fell wondering who she was.=He fell to wondering who she was. 但不很普通。
