check

1.check作“支票”解是美国英语，相当于英国的cheque。参见cheque

2.check up（查核，check是及物动词），check up on（查核，check是不及物动词），check with（跟…符合），check up with（和…符合）和checkup（查核）都是美国英语。例如：

• I will check up these statements.（英国用check）
• I will check up on these statements.（英国用check）
• The reprint checks with the original.（英国用tallies with）
• The reprint checks up with the original.（英国用tallies with）
• I will make a check(-)up of（或on）these statements.（英国用examination of）

check(-)up指“全身检查”也是美国英语，英国用physical overhaul。
