birthday现在通常不用来指“出生的日子”，如假定你在1950年8月20日出生，通常不说My birthday was 20 August, 1950。该把birthday改作birthdate或date of birth。但在譬喻的用法里便可以。例如：The birthday of the People's Republic of China was 1 October, 1949.假定你在1950年8月20日出生，你的first birthday是1951年8月20日。
