A speaker was giving a speech on the difference between man and woman. He said, “Man is like the thumb, and woman is like the little finger…”
一位演讲者正在做男女有别的演讲。他说：“男人像大拇指，女人像小拇指⋯⋯”
He stretched his left arm and opened his hand when he was interrupted by some great noise. All the women in the hall became angry. Some of them shouted loudly at him and some even rushed towards the platform. But the speaker wasn’t worried. He smiled and went on with his talk.
他伸出手臂，张开手，这时吵闹声打断了他的演讲。大厅里所有的女性都发怒了，有些人对他大声喊叫，还有些人甚至冲到台前。但演讲者并不担心，他微笑着继续演讲。
“Thumb represents STRENGTH while the little finger symbolizes SLIMNESS. I am sure every man wishes that he could be strong, and all women want to be slim. Am I right?”
“大拇指代表力量，而小拇指则象征着苗条。我相信每个男人都希望自己强壮，所有女人都希望自己苗条。我说的对吗？”
The women were all silent at once.
