从词源上来看， implore 于16世纪50年代经法语 implorer 或者直接由 implorare （呼吁帮助、恳求、热切地乞求）进入英语，也是用来表示“恳求、乞求、哀求”，常用搭配 implore sb to do sth 并作正式用语使用，侧重指怀着深切的焦虑、殷切的关怀或极大的渴望恳求某人做某事。比如：
