区别辨析order、bid与command

order、bid与command这些动词均含有“命令”之意。

order : 普通用词,多指上级对下级,主人对仆人以及教师对学生等发出的命令,也指态度专横地命令他人。

  • The company was ordered to pay compensation to its former employees.
    公司被勒令向以前的员工作出补偿。
  • The officer ordered them to fire.
    军官命令他们开火。
  • They were ordered out of the class for fighting.
    他们因斗殴被勒令退出课堂。

bid与order同义,但较正式,文学意味强,多指口头直接下的命令。

  • I bid £2 000 for the painting.
    我出2 000英镑买这幅画。
  • We wanted to buy the chairs but another couple were bidding against us.
    我们想买下那几把椅子,但另一对夫妇在同我们较劲出价。

command : 话意强,指正式下令,强调下令者的权威性,要求必须服从。

  • Begin when I give the command.
    我发出命令时开始。
  • You must obey the captain's commands.
    你必须服从船长的命令。
