区别辨析flow、run、stream与pour

flow、run、stream与pour这些动词均有“流动、涌出”之意。

flow : 侧重水继续不断地往前流,不关心其流量的大小和速度的快慢。

  • Lava from the volcano was flowing down the hillside.
    火山岩浆顺着山坡往下流。
  • Many short rivers flow into the Pacific Ocean.
    许多小河汇入太平洋。

run : 指液体向任何方向流动,暗示比flow快而有力。

  • I can feel trickles of sweat running down my neck.
    我可以感觉到津津汗水顺着脖子往下流淌。
  • The walls were running with damp.
    墙受潮出现了斑斑渍迹。

stream : 指水或其它液体从源头流出,不断地朝某一方向流动,可用作引申。

  • There were tears streaming down his face.
    泪水顺着他的脸滑落。
  • One woman was carried from the scene of the accident with blood streaming from her head.
    一名头部流血的妇女被从事故现场抬走了。
  • I've got a terrible cold and my nose has been streaming all week.
    我得了重感冒,整个星期都在流鼻涕。

pour : 通常指从高向低或从上向下的急剧流动。也可作引申用。

  • The bus was pouring out thick black exhaust fumes.
    那辆公共汽车排出大量浑浊的黑色废气。
  • The government has been pouring money into inefficient state-owned industries, and the country can no longer afford it.
    政府一直在向效益欠佳的国有企业注入大量资金,国家再也承受不了了。
