depart、leave、go、start、quit与set out这些动词均含“离开某处”之意。
depart : 较正式用词，指经过周密考虑或郑重地离开，强调离开的起点。
- Flights for Rome depart from Terminal 3.
飞往罗马的班机从3号航站楼出发。 - She waited until the last of the guests had departed.
她一直等到最后一个客人离开。
leave : 侧重出发地而不是目的地。
- I'll be leaving at five o'clock tomorrow.
我明天早晨5点钟离开。 - He left the house by the back door.
他从房子的后门离开了。
go : 一般用词，指从所在地到其它地方去，着重目的地而非出发地。
- Is it midnight already? I really must go/must be going.
都已经到半夜了？我真的得走了。 - She wasn't feeling well, so she went home early.
她感到不舒服，所以提前离开回家了。
start : 可与leave换用，强调目的地，但不及leave普通。
- What time are we starting tomorrow?
我们明天什么时候出发？
quit : 侧重指离开令人烦恼的地方，或摆脱使人不快的人或事。
- The landlord gave them all notice to quit .
房东通知他们都搬出去。 - Police were called when he refused to quit the building.
他拒绝离开那座大楼，于是人们叫来了警察。
set out : 书面用词。
- The troops are about to set out.
部队就要出发了。 - They set out in a westerly direction along the riverbank.
