chop、cut与hack这些动词均有“切、砍”之意。
chop : 指用刀斧连续猛力砍某物，以便砍断、切碎。
- He was chopping wood in the yard.
他在院子里劈木头。 - Add some fresh parsley, finely chopped.
加一些剁碎的新鲜欧芹。 - Chop (up) the onions and carrots roughly.
把洋葱和胡萝卜切成大块。 - Laura had her hair chopped (= cut) yesterday.

cut : 普通用词，使用广泛。指用带刃工具的切、割、砍等的行动。

hack : 指粗暴地乱剪、乱砍、乱劈。
- Three villagers were hacked to death in a savage attack.
三名村民在一场野蛮打斗中被砍死。 - The butcher hacked off a large chunk of meat.
屠夫砍下了一大块肉。 - The article had been hacked about (= carelessly changed) so much that it was scarcely recognizable.
被大刀阔斧地删改之后，这篇文章几乎面目全非了。
