blaze、flame、flare、glow、glare、flash、glitter、twinkle与light这些名词均含有“火焰、烈火、光”之意。
blaze : 指猛烈燃烧所发生强烈的光。
- Dry wood makes a good blaze.
干木柴烧得旺。 - The campfire smouldered for hours after the blaze died out.
营火在火焰熄灭后闷烧了好几个小时。
flame : 指一条或多条火舌，多用复数形式，指由许多火舌构成的大火。

汽车翻了，顿时起火燃烧起来。 - When the fire engine arrived the house was already in flames (= burning).

flare : 指摇曳的火焰。

glow : 指像冶炼铁和钢时发出的红光。

glare : 指眩目的光。
