at last、at length、eventually、finally、in the end与lastly这些词或词组均含有“最后、终于”之意。
at last ：多指经主观努力，克服各种困难后才终于达到目的。
- At last we're home!
我们终于到家了！ - At long last the cheque arrived.
支票终于到了。
at length ：强调经历一段长时间后终于完成，侧重在时间部分。
- At length my father went into the house.
我父亲最后还是进了屋。
eventually ：侧重于动作或行为的结果。
- Our flight eventually left five hours late.
我们的班机最终晚了五个小时起飞。 - Eventually, the army caught up with him in Latvia.
最终，大部队在拉脱维亚赶上了他。
finally ：常与at last换用，都可用于对往事的描述，但finally不带感情色彩，指一系列事情的最后结局。
