深入解读
Tact 一词源自拉丁语 tangere (触摸)的词根 tactus (触摸、触觉),17世纪中期进入英语后相应也是用来表示“触觉”。
等到了1804年后,随着法语同源词 tact (有分寸、知轻重)的发展, tact 也开始主要用来表示处事、言谈等的“老练、圆通、得体、乖巧、机敏、手腕”,主要指能够谨慎处理困难或尴尬的情况,并且敏锐地意识到该做什么或该说什么,以保持与他人的良好关系或者避免冒犯他人,常意味一种微妙和富有同情心的感知,比如:
- 她明确指出了那个新手的错误所在,既委婉又体贴。
She pointed out with tact and sensitivity exactly where the novice had gone wrong. - 他从来不懂什么处事技巧,大家都不喜欢他那生硬的态度。
