深入解读
在古代,人们通常认为生命的本质在于存在灵魂。而灵魂在拉丁语中分为阴性和阳性两个单词,分别为阴性的 anima 和阳性的 animus ,两词都可以引申指“心、心灵、心智、心力”。
其中,在 animus 前面加一个词根 unus (一),就构成了拉丁语 unanimus (字面义“一心的”,引申指“看法相同的、观点一致的”)。
该词最早于17世纪10年代进入英语后就形成了 unanimous 一词,相应也是用来表示“一致同意的、全体一致的、无异议的”,既可以用来形容两人或多人,也可以用来形容决定、意见、投票、协议等,即得到所有人的同意或支持的,比如:
- 一致的拥护
unanimous support - 他以全票当选这个新生政党的主席。
He was elected the chairman of the nascent party by a unanimous vote. - 当地居民一致反对拟建的新铁路。
