深入解读
Attrition 是一个和常见单词 nutrition 有着相同结尾的单词，两者可以一并联想记忆。
该词源自拉丁语 attritionem （摩擦），15世纪初进入英语后最初也是用作名词表示“摩擦”以及由此造成的“磨掉、磨损”。
等到了1914年，也就是第一次世界大战爆发的那一年， attrition 开始主要用在军事领域引申指“消耗、削弱、耗损”，常作正式用语使用，主要指像逐渐磨损那般，通过持续不断的攻击、骚扰、伤害或压力来使对手精疲力竭或者战斗力衰弱的行为过程，比如：

combat attrition - 耗损率
an attrition rate
而在美式英语中， attrition 还可以用来表示如自然磨损那般，因员工离职、退休或死亡而逐渐造成的“自然减员”，不同于通过裁员进行的主动减员，也是常作正式用语使用，比如：
