深入解读
Acrid 不仅是一个与小站（微信公众号：田间小站）上周推送的 arid 形似且容易混淆的单词，同时也与常见单词 acid （酸的、酸味的、酸性的）形似且有所关联。
该词最早出现于1712年，有说法认为它是由一位英国化学家为了表达“bitterly pungent（既辣且苦的）”这么一个概念，而取单词 acrimonious （本义指“辛辣的”，现喻指言词、态度等“尖刻的、讥讽的、激烈的”）和 acid 的首尾合成而来。
因而 acrid 的本义即指“辛辣的、苦辣的、难闻的、刺激的”，在表示味道时强调除辛辣刺激外还带有苦味，在表示气味时则意味着一种刺鼻、令人窒息和恶心的气味（odour），比如：
