人民代表大会制度是我国人民当家作主的根本途径和最高实现形式，是中国共产党在国家政权中充分发扬民主、贯彻群众路线的最好实现形式，是坚持党的领导、人民当家作主、依法治国有机统一的重要制度载体，是中国特色社会主义制度的重要组成部份。

We must keep to the path of socialist political advancement with Chinese characteristics; uphold and improve the system of people’s congresses, the system of Party-led multiparty cooperation and political consultation, the system of regional ethnic autonomy, and the system of community-level self-governance; and consolidate and develop the broadest possible patriotic united front. We should develop socialist consultative democracy, improve our democratic institutions, diversify our forms of democracy, and establish more democratic channels. We must see to it that the principle of the people running the country is put into practice in China’s political and social activities.
