Two men who lived in a small village got into a terrible dispute that they could not solve. So they decided to talk to the town sage.

The first man went to the sage’s home and told what happened. When he finished, the sage said, “You’re absolutely right.”
第一个人到了长老家里,将事情的前后经过说了一遍。之后,长老说:“你绝对没错。”
The next night, the second man called on the sage and told his side of the story. The sage responded, “You’re absolutely right.”
第二天夜里,第二个人也去拜访那个长老,也把事情的来龙去脉说了一遍。长老回答说:“你绝对没错。”
Afterward, the sage’s wife scolded her husband. “Those men told you two different stories and you told both they were absolutely right. That’s impossible—they can’t both be absolutely right.”
之后,长老的妻子就责骂丈夫说:“那两个人给你说了两个截然不同的故事,你都说他们绝对没错。那是不可能的——他们不可能都绝对没错。”
The sage turned to his wife and said, “You’re absolutely right.”
长老转向妻子说:“你绝对没错。”
