深入解读
Loathe 是一个很容易同形容词 loath 相混淆的单词，这两个单词都源自于古英语 lað （厌恶的、可恶的）。其中后者常用搭配 loath to do sth 作正式用语表示“不情愿、不乐意或勉强做某事”。
而 loathe 则主要用来表示“厌恶、讨厌、憎恶、极不喜欢”，常用搭配 loathe sb 或 loathe (doing) sth 表示对某人或某个事物感到十分强烈或者说极度的厌恶或不容忍，一般不用于进行时，比如：
- 爱因斯坦极不喜欢在学校死记硬背的学习。
Einstein loathed rote learning in school. - 士兵们从战场归来，分散到全国各地的大小城镇。他们中的许多人回来时对战争都深恶痛绝。
