英译汉常见错误 | son-in-law 女婿

［例句］　His son-in-law graduated from the college of law in 1980.
［误译］　他的攻读法律的儿子1980年毕业于法学院。
［原意］　他的女婿1980年毕业于法学院。
［说明］　son-in-law不是“攻读法律的儿子”，而是“女婿”。类似的名词还有daughter-in-law（“媳妇”，与son-in-law相对）；father-in-law（“岳父；公公”），mother-in-law（“岳母；婆婆”）；sister-in-law（“姑子，姨子，嫂子，弟媳等”），brother-in-law（“内兄，内弟，夫兄，夫弟，姐夫，妹夫等”）。这六个（三对）合成名词的复数形式不是~ -in-laws,而是~ s-in-law。
