汉译英常见错误 | accident 不用再 unexpected

原文：我不是故意打碎那个马克杯的——这是个意外。
错译：I didn't mean to break that mug─ it was an unexpected accident.

正译：I didn't mean to break that mug─ it was an accident.

注解：Accident 一词本身指的就是“意外和无意发生的不幸事件（an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally），通常造成损坏或伤害”，因此表示“意外”时无须再在其前面加上 unexpected 进行修饰。
