对于视频剪辑爱好者或者专业人士来说， premiere 是一个非常熟悉的单词，因为与图像处理软件 Photoshop 同属 Adobe 公司的经典视频剪辑软件就叫 Adobe Premiere Pro ，简称“Pr”。
回到单词本身， premiere 又是一个在拼写和发音上都容易与熟词 premier （总理、首相）相混淆的单词，两者都源自于法语 premier （第一的）。
其中 premiere 最早于1889年经法语 première 进入英语，即用来表示“首演、首映、首展”，主要指音乐、戏剧或电影作品等的首次公开上演、上映或展出，通常作为有名人嘉宾出席的特别活动举行，比如：
