[noun] a person new to or inexperienced in a field or situation
The novice heel wearer should avoid 10 centimetre stilettos. You may want to start by trying wedges or shoes with a thicker heel.
He would not have done it with an older, wiser woman, but in Carrie he saw only the novice. Less clever than she, he was naturally unable to comprehend her sensibility.
