深入解读
Abscond 一词由前缀 abs- (离开)+词根 cond (藏)构成,16世纪60年代经法语 abscondre (隐藏)或者直接由拉丁语 abscondere (隐藏、使看不见)进入英语,即用来表示“逃走、逃遁、逃脱、溜掉”,主要指为了躲避罪责、法律制裁等而突然、匆忙且秘密地逃离某处,既包括被拘留或监管的人逃跑,也可以指保释的人没有在指定的时间接受羁押,常用搭配 abscond from sth ,比如:
- 那个适应力强的女孩和男友从寄宿学校逃走了。
The resilient girl absconded from boarding school with her boyfriend. - 那个所谓的大师被传唤于第二天出庭,可是他逃跑了。
The so-called guru was ordered to appear the following day, but absconded.
在这个概念下,现在通常更多的是用其特指携款“潜逃”,也就是在盗窃、诈骗等非法携带他人财物的情况下匆忙且秘密地离开,以避免被发现或被捕,常用搭配 abscond with sth ,比如:
- 她总是那么时髦,那么优雅。但不幸的是,她的合伙人都是些骗子,已卷款逃之夭夭了。
