深入解读
Morbid 是一个容易同小站（微信公众号：田间小站）之前推送过的 moribund 相混淆的单词，同时也曾在小站去年推送的 译海纵横 | 《扫黑风暴》为什么这么火？ 中提到过。
该词源自拉丁语 morbus （病、疾病、小病），17世纪中期经拉丁语 morbidus （患病的、病态的）进入英语，最初用在医学领域表示“病的、与疾病有关的、疾病所致的、致病的”或“病变部位的、患处的、病理的”，比如病态肥胖症（morbid obesity）。
等到了1834年后， morbid 开始更多地用在精神状态方面，引申指“病态的、不正常的”，也就是对令人不安、不快或厌恶的话题（尤其是死亡、疾病等）有着不正常和不健康的强烈兴趣，常意味着精神错乱、消极、颓废或堕落，比如：
- 不厌其烦地谈论墓地以及诸如此类的事是一种病态。
It’s morbid to dwell on cemeteries and such like.
