看到 boon 这个单词,很容易联想起 moon (月亮、月球)、 noon (正午、中午)、 soon(很快、马上) 以及 balloon (气球)和 baboon (狒狒)来。该词源自古北欧语 bon (祈求的事、企盼的事),12世纪末进入英语后最初也是表示“祈求的事、企盼的事”,但后来含义逐渐演变为祈求后“赐给的恩泽”,并最终发展成今义“非常有用的东西、益处”,多指有助于提高生活质量或给生活带来方便的有用之物,比如:
- 就是因为这个原因,电视才会给这么多人带来如此大的便利。但孩子仍应该少看电视。
